The Christmas season is a great excuse to get in the kitchen and bake up a batch of cookies. While it can be a fun and yummy way to pass the time, baking can certainly get messy. Thankfully there are a few tricks to aid any amateur baker. If you want to have a stress-free time in the kitchen while you bake this holiday season, then try these helpful tips.
Removing Eggshells
It happens to everyone. You crack open a few eggs into a bowl, and small piece of eggshell falls in. Try and try as you may, you cannot seem to be able to get to the eggshell without making an awful mess. The next time an eggshell gets into the bowl, simply wet your finger prior to getting out the eggshell. By wetting your finger first, the eggshell will drift towards your finger.
Separating The Yolk
On the topic of eggs, you are bound to have to separate your egg whites from the egg yolks for some of your holiday recipes. This can be quite tricky and can often lead you to wasting and using more eggs than called for. Rather than use your hands or even the eggshell to separate the yolk from the white, all you need is an empty water bottle. Crack open your egg onto a clean plate; then use the empty water bottle to suction out the yolk from the white of the egg.

Do Not Buy Brown Sugar
If you have ever had to make anything with brown sugar, you know what a hassle it is to mess with brown sugar. You use a cup or two for your recipe, and are left with half a bag. Try as hard as you can to seal the brown sugar, it gets all hard and clumped together, making it hard to use for a second or third time. The next time you bake something that calls for brown sugar, do not head to the store to buy brown sugar when you can make it at home. All you need is regular granulated sugar and molasses. For every cup of sugar, you will combine with a tablespoon of molasses.
