Advice On Drinking Water

If you stop a random adult on the street and ask them what they use to get them going every day, they’ll likely tell you coffee, tea, or another caffeinated beverage. However, there’s a much better energy drink that can offer you a ton of benefits — water. If you haven’t been getting enough water, use these tips to help you increase your intake.

How Much Water Do You Need?

Your body needs H2o to function at full capacity and getting the right amount can have an incredible energizing affect. However, studies show that most Americans are chronically dehydrated, drinking only 2 1/2 cups of water a day. You’ve probably heard the general advice to drink eight glasses or 64 ounces of water each day. This is a good place to start, but the Mayo clinic advises adults to get even more water. Women should drink 92 ounces of water a day, while men should drink 124 ounces.

Carry a Water Bottle

Most adults are super busy and it can be tough to reach your water drinking goals when  you’re always on the go. Start carrying a water bottle to help you increase your water intake. Fill your bottle before you leave home, before you leave the office, and whenever you think about it. Using a water bottle can help you keep track of how much water you’re drinking as well. If you have a 24-ouce water bottle, try to drink 3 to 5 bottles a day.

Make Water More Exciting

Some people don’t drink enough water because it’s simply not appealing to them. If you fit that description, you don’t have to drink plain water. Instead, use these hacks to make drinking water more exciting.

  • Trade your soda for lightly flavored sparkling water.
  • Add a lemon, lime, or orange slice to your water.
  • Drink flavored water.
  • Eat water rich fruits and vegetables like cucumbers, melons, celery, and lettuce.

Make It a Part of Your Routine

Add drinking water to your daily routine. Instead of waking up and drinking a cup of coffee, enjoy a glass of water first. Drink a glass after you brush your teeth at night, and have a glass with each meal.
